Bienvenue à la Brasserie

Next month a new restaurant is about to open in our town, called Brasserie Amelie, a French inspired restaurant with snacks and wine.

And this inspired us to try some French delicacy: Artichokes with dips and garlic-honey bread

I have never eaten artichokes, but they turned out to be really easy to cook and VERY yummy!!!

I made two different dips, a typical French vinaigrette and Garlic Mayo

French Vinaigrette:

1 Tbsp mustard

1 Tbsp Sherry vinegar

4 Tbsp oil (no olive oil)

thyme and rosemary

Put all ingredients into an old jar, close it and shake it well, the result is smooth and creamy almost like mayo…great

Garlic Mayo

4 Tbsp mayonnaise

1 tsp Worcestersauce

1 tsp Sherry vinegar

1 dash lemon juice

4 cloves of garlic

Garlic Honey Bread

1 tsp sourdough starter (made mine fresh, just mix wholewheat flour and warm water 1:1 and put it on a warm place for some days, put mine on the sunny balcony for one day and it was sour!)

2 cups flour

1 cup warm water

Mix and put on a warm place overnight.

3 cups flour

3/4 cup warm water

1/2 pack. dry yeast

1 1/2 tsp salt

2 1/2 Tbsp honey

Mix with risen dough and beat well, let rise for about 3 hour.

Roll out into a square

4 cloves garlic cut in quarters

1 tsp fresh rosemary chopped

Spread on dough, roll it up and shape a loaf, cut it diagonal and let rise again for half an hour.

Bake at 350°F for about 40 Min.

Then it will look like this

Bon appétit!
